The comfort of working faster
Getting work done on time isn’t just about power. It’s also about operator comfort. The EH1700-3 combines an innovative suspension system, unitized frame, improved power and a high-comfort cab. The result? More productivity, less operator fatigue. It is also available with an additional 155 horsepower to better meet the rigorous demands of heavy-duty applications.
Product highlights
- Load height and body volumes
- Standard body - 13 ft. 11 in. (4.26 m)
- Struck (SAE) - 51.7 cu. yd. (39.5 m3)
- Heaped 2:1 (SAE) - 79 cu. yd. (60.4 m3)
- Strong, reliable engine – Detroit Diesel MTU 16V – 2000 generates 783 kW (1,050 hp) at 2,100 rpm.
- Protected transmission – the Allison H9610A transmission remotely mounted, which protects it from engine and road vibration.
- Cab is designed for comfort and productivity. Newly engineered air-ride seat and wraparound-style dashboard with easy controls provide additional comfort and efficiency.
- New Hitachi-exclusive controller monitors truck system and replaces multiple, outsourced controllers for higher reliability.
Easy access to major components
The fully-fabricated box-section main rails feature section height that is tapered from rear to front. This produces a narrower area at the rear to support the load and a wider area at the front to provide overall stability. One-piece top and bottom flanges eliminate cross-member tie-in joints and provide a large exposed center area for access to major components. The large radii at frame junctions are blended and ground stress concentrations are minimized.
High resistance to wear and impact
Built for quarry and mining applications, the EH1700-3 body uses a .71-assets/inch (18 mm) floor plate and .3-assets/inch (8 mm) side plates made of 400 BHN high-tensile steel. This provides high resistance to wear and impact. And a low loading height and large target area allow easy, quick loading by a variety of loading tools.
Comfortable cab
You’ll love the new ROPS/FOPS cab from Hitachi. It features a center-integrated automotive-style dashboard that positions the display and controls within close view of the road ahead. The cab uses double-wall construction and a three-point rubber ISO-mount to absorb shocks and noise. The high-powered heater provides ample BTUs for all environments and working conditions.
High maneuverability
When you operate the EH1100-3, you’ll quickly realize that the Hitachi ACCU-TRAC suspension system delivers excellent maneuverability, even at higher speeds. The trailing arm layout offers greater ease of servicing while improving truck performance. And the pivot mounting of the trailing arm design allows only axial input to the strut and allows wheel movement in the vertical plane only. The trailing arm suspension design also allows the front struts to be removed and installed without removing the front brakes or tires. This means fewer tools and less labor time are required, resulting in less downtime and higher productivity.
