Hitachi Mining excavators from the EX1200-6 on up use Cummins engines. Thousands of mine operators depend on Cummins every day for greater levels of productivity, efficiency and durability with the lowest cost-per-ton in the industry. In fact, Cummins has more Tier 2 emissions-certified mining engines in use today than the combined total of all other mining engine manufacturers.
In North America, the EH3500ACII truck uses a Cummins engine. The two smaller EH-3 models use MTU Detroit Diesel engines while the EH1700-3 has the option of either MTU or Cummins, depending on which horsepower option is chosen.
MTU Detroit Diesel
The EH5000AC-3 uses MTU Detroit Diesel. MTU Detroit Diesel engines have a long history of proving themselves in mining applications around the globe. The combination of a robust short engine enhanced by a second-generation common-rail fuel system, refined engine management and a practical arrangement of the air and exhaust system make their dump-truck engines a benchmark of these extreme applications.
