Safety and Training

At Hitachi, safety is our top priority. And training is one of the most effective ways to develop and maintain safe working environments and equipment. Hitachi Dealer Network offers both operator and technical training for mining equipment.

Hitachi Mining Operator Training

Level 1 – delivered at Customer's site by the Hitachi Mining Dealer Network  

  • Daily service checks
  • Start-up and operation
  • Safe operating techniques
  • Periodic knowledge checks
  • Post assessment test

Level 2 – Simulator-training, delivered by Immersive Technologies

  • Proper operator technique
  • Machine controls
  • Safe operating techniques

Level 3 – Instructor-led (on the jobsite) through VISTA Training Incorporated

  • Proper planning techniques
  • Perform daily service checks
  • Proper startup procedures
  • Proficient with machine controls
  • Safe operating techniques
  • Hitachi Certificate of Completion – no certification

Hitachi Mining Technical Training

Distance learning is a great way to give technicians a head-start on technical competencies for Hitachi Mining equipment. Online, anytime courses cover manual and schematic organization and navigation skills that are essential for technical support. Courses available can be taken at: www.jdu.deere.com.

Hitachi trained instructors will provide Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 training upon request and availability of schedule. Dealers and/or Hitachi trained Product Support Personnel also may provide Phase 1 training.

Phase 1: Basic machine orientation and maintenance training at the delivery of new machines

  • Safety, maintenance, and basic operation
  • 4 hour class length
  • 12 students maximum per session

Phase 2: Standard instructor-led technical training

  • Operational theory, troubleshooting and hands-on activities on machine
  • 3-4 Days standard class length
  • 12 students maximum per session
  • Machine time is recommended but not required
  • Exercises on the machine better the technicians understanding of the systems

Phase 3: Optional/customized advanced technical training

  • Prerequisite: Phase 2 training
  • In-depth troubleshooting scenarios, 1-on-1 instruction activities on machine
  • 3-day standard class length
  • Machine must be available for two full days
  • 6 students maximum per session
  • Includes both Practical & Written Exams
  • Certificate of Completion

Hitachi Electric Drive Systems: Standard instructor-led technical training

  • Prerequisite: Phase 2 training
  • In-depth troubleshooting scenarios, 1-on-1 instruction activities on machine
  • 3-day standard class length
  • Machine must be available for two full days
  • 6 students maximum per session
